We apologise with regard to the recent lack of
match reports. Alan Williams is just about recovering from the bout of "Scarlet
Fever" sustained on 30th October. I can appreciate how frustrating it can be
for NRFC Supporters who were unable to get to the matches eagerly awaiting the
match reports, however, those that were able to attend would rather forget that
particular day (including some of the players). We hope to update the match
reports over the next few days. [Colin Chapman]

Several weeks ago Team Management decided to
hold a team building weekend. The squad gathered on Friday evening, the 16th
July, at the Pelenna Mountain Centre, Tonmawr.
A talk was given by a top sports psychologist
which lasted for well over an hour, refreshments were provided by Tonmawr RFC.
On Saturday morning breakfast was served at 7.30 a.m. sharp. The squad then
travelled by coach to Ystradfellte Caves and Dinas Rock where they were split
into two groups of eleven. Each group took turns at events, such as absailing,
caving, there was also a four and a half mile gorge walk as well as
orienteering and a cross-country run. The day also involved several
decision-making tasks. The group then returned to Pelenna in the early evening.
On Sunday morning Team Management held a
de-briefing session in which Coach Lyn Jones felt there was a positive feedback
from the players. Team Manager Phil Pugh said "The new players are bonding well
and the squad is taking shape, but there are several places in the squad still
to be filled."
The players were upbeat, fly half Matthew Pearce
said "It was an excellent weekend, the squad is really tuned in and looking
forward to the coming season, hopefully we will be challenging for honours."
Phil Pugh stated "We feel we are setting the tone at the moment and an upbeat
squad is taking shape but we will be where we want to be in terms of the squad
well in advance of the season." All in all Team Management felt is was a very
productive weekend.
